HITT Contracting Receives Five Awards For Projects From The Associated Builders And Contractors Of Metropolitan Washington |

| WASHINGTON D.C. – (September 12, 2002) – HITT Contracting will be honored tomorrow night, September 11, 2002, with five Excellence in Construction Awards at the Associated Builders and Contractor’s (ABC) 21st annual banquet held at the McLean Hilton Hotel in Tysons Corner, Virginia. ABC’s award program recognizes and celebrates the workmanship of those who contribute to outstanding projects built by Washington-area ABC members. ABC is the only association representing the entire construction team, from general and specialty contractors to suppliers of products and services, and industry professionals. The law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in Washington, D.C., received
the best interiors ($50-$75 s.f.) award for the 335,000 square foot build-out/renovation.
Together with the vision of STUDIOS Architecture, HITT opened the central
core, cutting through all slabs to incorporate the use of natural light
within the office via the world’s longest solar light pipe at 120
feet. This unique light feature serves as a design focal point for the
multi-level layout. Covenant Life Church won the best institutional ($8
million and over) award for the 92,000 square foot addition that featured
administrative offices, mezzanines, new 28-foot tall auditorium, and a
main lobby area. The mezzanine woodwork features detailed cherry, oak
and maple finishes. Hay Adams Hotel won the best historic restoration
award for its massive historic restoration which included over 140 guest
rooms featuring new marble with custom mirrors and millwork as well as
suites with the complete removal and replacement of the mechanical systems.
The medical renovation of TherImmune’s Toxicology Facility received
the best medical renovation (over $3 million) award for its maximization
of space and complex electrical work. The build-out of UBS PaineWebber
in Washington, D.C. earned HITT the best interior ($35-$50 s.f.) award
for its elaborately detailed interior millwork throughout as well as its
two new tenant elevator lobbies with stone flooring and wood trim.
