FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, April 30, 2002:

Fairfax, Virginia - HITT Contracting Inc., one of the nation's Top 100 Contractors, served as the General Contractor on two projects that recently received awards from the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). The association's mission is "to enhance the quality of life through excellence in interior design and to enhance interior design through knowledge." The awards program celebrates the best interior projects by designers from the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. region. Awards were given out during a reception at Visions Cinema/Bistro/Lounge in Washington, D.C. on the evening of April 18, 2002.

The first project, InforMax, located in Bethesda, Maryland, received the Bronze Award in the Commercial 1 category for projects ranging in size from 20,000 to 100,000 square feet. The InforMax project was a 36,000 s.f. build-out that featured open areas highlighted with slanted, floating ceilings that are exposed to the concrete deck above. Other notable features include large glass entry doors in the lobbies and radius corridor walls used to access the executive suites. Together with the architectural team at SmithGroup, HITT made this project's sleek, modern design come to life.

Accenture/Ideas Exchange, located in Reston, Virginia, won the Silver Award in the Commercial 3 category for projects under 20,000 square feet. Teams at HITT and Gensler were responsible for creating the 4,300 square foot high-tech interior space. Unique features include curved stainless steel doors and walls, as well as numerous plasma screens to give Accenture the high-tech feel they desired for the renovation. In addition, due to the large amount of electrical equipment in use, the entire space was constructed on raised access flooring to allow for extensive conduit under the area.

"A superb design is the first step to a successful project," says Brett Hitt, Executive Vice President of HITT, "we are proud to work with IIDA-honored firms like Gensler and SmithGroup, who put the same high amount of quality into their design as we put into our construction."
