FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, April 30, 2002: Fairfax, Virginia - HITT Contracting Inc., one of the area's leading general contractors, received four "Excellence in Craftsmanship" awards from Washington Building Congress (WBC) at their annual Craftsmanship Awards Banquet on March 15, 2002 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. WBC is a group of companies and individuals dedicated to the highest standards and practices in the real estate, design, and construction industries of the Washington, D.C. area. This awards program recognizes the efforts of local craftspeople and the important role they play in the industry. Accenture/Ideas Exchange's renovation in Reston, Virginia received two awards for craftsmanship on doors and windows, as well as electrical work. Together with The Washington Woodworking Company, HITT created a curved tracked system for two sets of pocket doors, allowing the doors to be flushed with the pocket walls when closed. The other award-winning feature is the complicated electrical lighting system controlled by six separate dimming systems and includes an illuminated wall with several sections serving as a projectable surface. Another joint venture with The Washington Woodworking Company earned HITT an award for architectural millwork on Morgan Lewis' Northern Virginia office in McLean, Virginia. Secretarial stations were constructed with a unique material rarely used for this type of project. Finally, the build-out of L.E.C.G.'s Washington, D.C. office also won an award for its ornamental metalwork on a set of stairs crafted by HITT and Big D Metals using stainless steel, glass, and stone. "HITT has always strived to give subcontractors opportunities to showcase their talent," says James Millar, Executive Vice President of HITT, "we are honored to have received four awards from WBC and support their continual recognition of not only the general contractors responsible for these projects, but the craftspeople themselves."
