SAN ANTONIO, Texas, March 9, 2001 - HITT Contracting’s Safety Department was honored with a Safety Excellence Award (Category SIC 15) from ABC National at their convention in San Antonio, Texas. Out of 20,000 qualified members, HITT Contracting was one of only 19 that received this top honor with the SIC 15 category specifically set aside for those companies with 1-5 million work hours in the 2000 calendar year.

The ABC National Safety Excellence Award recognizes construction companies that have outstanding safety programs and policies. Each year, ABC collects STEP Platinum applications from standard industrial classification codes 15, 16, and 17. The ABC National Safety Committee selects the top performing companies for each SIC based on STEP score, total recordable rate and lost workday case rate. After making its selections, the committee interviews each company to further evaluate its safety programs and procedures. Following interviews, the committee selects the National Safety Excellence Award and Safety Merit Award winners.
