WASHINGTON, DC, February 24, 2001 - HITT Contracting’s Safety Department and Director of Subcontractor Relations, Irene Davis, were each honored with Subby Awards from the DC Metropolitan Subcontractors Association at their Annual Subby Awards Banquet. In previous years, HITT Contracting has received recognition for Outstanding General Contractor for Interior and Renovation; Outstanding General Contractor (Over $50 Million); Outstanding Job Supervision; and MSA’s inaugural Pinnacle Award for Lifetime Achievement given to Myrtle L. Hitt, co-founder of HITT Contracting. HITT Contracting’s Safety Department received the Outstanding General Contractor “Aegis” Award for Overall Jobsite Safety. This award recognizes the general contractor who maintains continual safety compliance on the jobsite; prompt handling of violations; maintains clean work areas at all times; has a low number of citations and takes responsibility to ensure all work is within OSHA/MOSH/VOSH guidelines.

Irene Davis, Director of Subcontractor Relations for HITT Contracting, received the Outstanding Service Award recognizing her as the MSA individual who provided service to MSA above and beyond the normal volunteer service and demonstrated individual dedication and service to the association.

For the past 36 years, MSA pays special tribute to exceptional firms and individuals in the construction industry and public life. Through these awards, MSA seeks to publicly recognize the exceptional contribution of all the nominees. Most of the 2000 nominees were selected by vote of the MSA members as the truly outstanding performer in his or her field. Two of the award categories were nominated and selected by their Industry Education Support Group (Subcontractor Award) and Safety Committee (Aegis Award).
